Research & Report: Refugee Relocation Intentions

The documents below are the final outcome of research we carried out recently in Dzaleka, in partnership with the University of Malawi, with funding from Southern New Hampshire University.

At the time of this research (2022), Malawi’s national refugee policy required the encampment of all asylum seekers and refugees for an unlimited period of time, including those who were born in Malawi and are now adults. The national government pledged to review its policy in the context of a Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework (CRRF) called for by the United Nations but has not yet implemented changes.

Available for download below are the research summary and full report on refugee relocation intentions, including recommendations and guidelines for policy practitioners should local integration become available.
